Single Tooth Dental Implants
Las Vegas, NV

Smiling older woman with dental implants from Nevada Oral & Facial Surgery in Las Vegas, NVA missing tooth can be frustrating, if not embarrassing. Depending on the location of the missing tooth, you may find changes in how you chew, your speech, or your smile. Even worse are the changes that you can’t see, or the changes that occur more slowly. We can provide you with options to help, including a restoration that rebuilds your missing tooth from the base with a dental implant. Working with our team at Nevada Oral & Facial Surgery, we can help you have a functional, beautiful smile.

Missing teeth, whether it is one, many or all, can now be rebuilt using a device known as a dental implant. It is a titanium or ceramic post that we can embed in your jaw to serve as a new tooth root. Once healed, we then attach a new tooth to the post for a permanent restoration. Your newly restored tooth will look and function like the one that was lost.

Why Should I Restore a Missing Tooth?

Frequently, patients have expressed that a missing tooth is not a concern, but that’s because they don’t understand the important role our teeth play. We use our teeth constantly. We use our teeth to chew, to speak, for the health of our jawbone, to keep neighboring teeth in line, and to show off our smile. Our mouths have a very important job to perform and keeping our teeth healthy is important to that work. A single missing tooth can lead to changes in your:
•  Bite
•  Jaw Joint
•  Facial Shape
•  Diet
•  Self Confidence
•  Neighboring Teeth

How is a Dental Implant Different Than Other Restorations?

When replacing a tooth, we need something to anchor the replacement tooth in place. Traditionally, we have used neighboring teeth to serve as that anchor, such as with the traditional use of a dental bridge. Though it works, using other teeth is not ideal. We have to cause irreparable alterations to the otherwise healthy supporting tooth, and it doesn’t solve the bone health problem. A dental implant is a surgically implanted anchor.

A dental implant can serve as that firm anchor or post we need to hold a tooth in place without disrupting other teeth. The implant is shaped similarly to a screw both in shape and size, with a threaded end that we sink into the bone, and a head that we can attach to a tooth. As your bone heals, it will grow up and around the threads of the device fusing them firmly together. With a firm post in place, it will serve as a new tooth root system to attach a dental crown.

Dental implants can be used to restore a single missing tooth, or multiple missing teeth. Replacing multiple teeth may require multiple dental implants. Your treatment is customized to your needs which we can discuss during your consultation.

We invite you to learn more about dental implants and how they can help you have better oral health following the loss of a tooth.
