Implant Supported Dentures

Las Vegas, Nevada

It can be devastating to live with tooth loss, but here at Nevada Oral & Facial Surgery there are plenty of things that we can do to replace them. Often when someone is missing several or all of their teeth, dentures are the solution. The problem is that dentures are not without issues. There is another solution for many patients who have lost most or all of their teeth. This solution is known as implant supported dentures.

What Are Implant Supported Dentures? How Can They Help?

If you are missing many teeth, or if you have dentures but would like a different solution, implant supported dentures could be the answer that you are hoping for.

Often dentures stop fitting comfortably over time. They might even hurt when you wear them. That most likely is because of bone resorption. This is the process in which your body will slowly start to break down the bone in your jaw where you are missing your teeth. That bone is then absorbed into your body. With bone resorption, you can lose a significant amount of bone over time.

With implant supported dentures, bone resorption will no longer be a problem. That is because we will replace what your mouth is missing with screws. These screws will make your mouth think that the natural tooth and its root are still there, and you will no longer lose bone.

After the screws have set in your jaw, we will fit you with your implant supported dentures. Unlike regular dentures, these will become a permanent part of your mouth. They will look great, and you will have a brand-new set of teeth.

Benefits Of Supported Dentures

If you have a problem with your dentures slipping when you eat, then implant supported dentures could be the answer. You will no longer have to worry about the embarrassment of them slipping because they will be permanent. They are made to fit and to stay in place. You will be able to eat with confidence once again.

Another thing that is nice about implant supported dentures is that you will not have to worry that something will end up stuck under your dentures, or that they will slip when you are talking. Your implant supported dentures will give you back your confidence.

Some patients have a problem with only their bottom dentures slipping. It is more often the bottom that will slip than the top because of the way that you use your mouth. In patients who have this issue, we will sometimes recommend an implant supported denture on the bottom and a traditional removable denture on the top. For patients with significant oral health damage, we may recommend a full mouth restoration which includes various procedures and oral surgeries.
